How We Choose Products
Our research process, in plain English, so you can decide how much to trust our picks.
1. We start with what's inside
For personal care, ingredients matter more than branding. We look at active ingredients and their strengths (for example the type of aluminum compound in an antiperspirant), common irritants such as baking soda and fragrance, and claims a manufacturer actually makes on the label.
2. We check expert guidance
We lean on published guidance from organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Dental Association (including its Seal of Acceptance program) and the International Hyperhidrosis Society, plus peer-reviewed research where it exists.
3. We look for patterns in real-world use
A single glowing review means little. Patterns across thousands of verified reviews reveal a lot: "stopped working after a week," "gave me a rash," "battery died after a year." We weigh recurring complaints heavily.
4. We consider value
The best product isn't always the most expensive one. Every guide includes a budget-friendly pick, and we call out ongoing costs such as replacement brush heads, blades and cartridges.
5. We keep guides updated
Formulas and models change. Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we revisit our picks regularly.
What we don't do
Brands can't pay to be included. We don't present research as hands-on testing. When a guide includes our own first-hand experience, we say so clearly. Prices change constantly, so we link you to the current price instead of printing one that may be out of date.
